Delphinus is a small but distinctive constellation, easily recognized by its diamond-shaped body and tail star. Its two brightest stars, Sualocin and Rotanev, are Nicolaus Venator spelled backwards, named by the astronomer Niccolò Cacciatore.

Mythology & History
In Greek mythology, Delphinus represents the dolphin sent by Poseidon to find the sea nymph Amphitrite, whom the god wished to marry. The dolphin found her and persuaded her to accept Poseidon's proposal. In gratitude, Poseidon placed the dolphin among the stars.
