Pisces is a large but faint zodiac constellation currently containing the vernal equinox. The face of the Western Fish, a circlet of stars, is its most recognizable feature. M74, a grand-design spiral galaxy, lies within its borders.

When to Observe
Pisces is best observed during November. It is located in the NQ1 quadrant and is primarily visible from the both hemispheres. The constellation contains 18 main stars forming its asterism, with 38 Bayer/Flamsteed designated stars in total. Its brightest star is Eta Piscium.
Mythology & History
In Greek mythology, Pisces represents Aphrodite and her son Eros, who transformed into fish and tied themselves together to escape the monster Typhon. The Babylonians saw this area as two fish connected by a cord. The vernal equinox currently lies in Pisces, having precessed from Aries.
